HONGKONG. 7th November, 1914.
With reference to the telegraphic correspondence
noted in the margin, I have the honour to report that I decided after consulting the
Executive Council to ask the Legislative
Council to vote a sum of $100,000 from
m Secy of State to Governor,
dated Xth September, 1914.

public funds as a first instalment, in aid of the Prince of Wales
Fund, and to appoint a Committee under myself as Chairman for the
purpose of raising a public subscription in the Colony on behalf
of the Fund.

I
I enclose a press report of the proceedings of the
first meeting of the Committee, which contains a list of the names
of the members who comprised it, and of the sub-committee appoint-
ed to make arrangements for the collection of subscriptions.
On the 22nd October the Legislative Council

unanimously voted £100,000 as a contribution from Colonial Funds.

I attach a copy of a statement by Er. A. G. Stephen,
the Treasurer of the Committee, showing the amount of the subscrip tions received up to the 31st October, excluding the donation of $100,000 voted by the Legislative Council.
